Farm to Family - "FEEDING THE COMMUNITY ONE STOP AT A TIME"

2817 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23223   Market # 804-767-8570  Cell # 540-872-6528

Farm to Family is a bridge from farm to city, distributing locally grown food to families in urban areas and educating people about food security from a converted a 1987 international diesel school bus! Farm to Family is a mobile micro farmers market on wheels.  Why go to the market when the market can come to you!  Through our mobile concept we provide urban communities with fresh grown local produce and other homemade products.  We try and target areas that don't have access to fresh food and teach people what it is and how to cook it. We want people to be proactive about changing bad eating habits.  We can help anyone accomplish this goal if they are willing and have the desire!

Farm to Family is about building personal relationships within the community and bringing people together.  We source fresh local products while reconnecting people with real food.  We grow and source produce within the community, concentrating on quality chemical free products and buildings relationships with small local growers and producers.  One of our goals is to have everyone growing their own food and using the bus as a vehicle to help sell and distribute their fruits back into the community in which it was grown. We want to be the bridge while creating a sustainable food distribution system.  We distribute into the urban landscape, food deserts and other local neighborhoods.  In doing so we can lower the carbon footprint and help make people more self reliant.  We bring the farm to you!  What do you get?  A unique interactive shopping/educational experience like no other, like stepping into the country for a brief moment in time.  We occasionally bring small farm animals (chickens and rabbits) along with us so children can see the connection. You can actively take part in the new slow food movement by shopping on the bus.  We also hand out free seeds to children so they can start their own gardens and learn where real food comes from.  Yes together you and F2F can help change the world!  We are also qualified to accept EBT cards (food stamps) for those struggling families in the community.

If you are a farmer or small grower or know someone that sells wholesale or has a surplus of produce please contact us so we can establish a relationship.  We are trying to stay with clean (no chemicals) products and have a full disclaimer (free advertising for the farmer) on where the produce came from and how it was grown.   It's a win win for everyone.

We are very excited about this venture please help us succeed by spreading the word/love, find us when/where you can and buy something or make a donation to our cause.  This is a community based concept that will not succeed without it's full support.  Every little bit helps us stay afloat and eventually we can expand enabling us to reach more communities in need and create jobs!

Our weekly schedule is here, also check Twitter and Facebook for recent updates.
We have started our 2010 summer dairy and meat CSA (community supported agriculture) season with some new changes so click on our CSA link and learn more or call us anytime.....
